  • A limited number of fishing permits are available - up to 20 per annum for day fishing & 10 for day/night fishing.

Permits are issued to a named individual for a designated site and are not transferable.

Thepermit entitles the holder to the use of no more than two rods at any one time - A marker rod may be used in addition, but must be reeled in once the two rods have been cast.

No rods to beleft unattended at any time.

3Anglers must not light fires or barbeques, dig in any bank or grass area for bait or cause any other damage to the site. The creation of new swims or the dredging of weed is strictly banned.

All fishing permits must be carried whilst fishing and be produced on demand to any employee of the Borough of Poole, or other person so appointed by the Borough of Poole.

No anglers are allowed to fish in the wildlife sanctuaries.

No fishing will take places during the close season (15th March to 15th June inclusive). This close season will be retained regardless of, and in addition to, any statutory close season.

The removal or introduction of any fish (or other animal or plant) from or to these sites is not allowed.

The use of lead weights, fixed bolt rings, barbed hooks, multiple hooks i.e. double and trebles and the use of boats of any kind is not permitted, including bait boats.

No nuts, beans, pulses or live fish are to be used on this water.

No fish should be kept in keep nets or carp sacks

The health and condition of the fish is paramount, it is therefore asked of all anglers to use an unhooking mat or similar - Fish should not be un-hooked directly on the ground.

Hooks and surplus line are potentially lethal and must not be discarded on the site.

Anglers will be held responsible for any litter in their vicinity. All litter must be taken home. In the interest of wildlife – no tin cans are allowed on the water.

Anglers are requested to limit the length of each fishing session to a maximum of 24 hours.

Day permit holders may fish from 8:00 until half hour before sunset.

Anglers can only fish from a limited number of designated swims and these are allocated on a first come first served basis. Please be respectful to other members when fishing.

Fishing is only permitted on the site indicated on the permit and is not interchangeable. Hatch pond permits do not entitle you to fish at Alder Hills and vice versa.

Overnight bivouacs are not permitted in the close season. Camping is not allowed at any time.

  • Dug in the 1920s to supply the local pottery industry, Alder Hills fishery is a two and a half acre lake.
